Our Nursery in Wilmslow

Our Nursery in Wilmslow

For over 20 years ‘The House of Rompa’ has continued to meet the needs of the individual parent and carer. What makes us stand out from the crowd a parent said “The small intimate nature of the nursery means that you have more time for the individual child”. “The nursery is always clean, cheerful. Positive and always welcoming. Sounds basic but actually very hard to achieve consistency on these things”

The location of the nursery offers so much to parents and children alike. Set in the grounds of Wilmslow High School, just off the A34 bypass means easy access for dropping off and collection of children “ you can park right outside” “ You have a lovely safe back yard with a hedge, actual grass and trees” “ It offers a safe open environment”.

The nursery’s opening hours have now been extended through consultation with parents and carers. The staff are now working on a rota system to ensure the quality of care is met. We are now open from 7am to 7pm which means that parents can beat the rush hour traffic at either end of the day.

Some of the comments made by parents are “My daughter is exposed to all the staff with their individual personalities bur feels secure with all of you because the focus and intimate atmosphere provides a close supportive role”.

“The mixed ages of staff from young to mature oozing with experience is very important”

"Fantastic cooking”, “Home cooking” “The food is fabulous and I can vouch for that” “Breakfast provision and a 3.30pm square meal is a huge bonus for working parents” “Our kids are in great shape when we collect them and don’t need another major meal” “brilliant supporting dietary requirements – even sourced un-sweetened yoghurt” “fantastic food” are just a few comments from parents.

We endeavour to support the individual parent’s needs whenever possible “You are helpful and caring and nothing is too much trouble” “always wanting to help solve problems like where to put the scooter” “putting my daughter into her swimming costume to save time when we go to swimming lessons” “being so lovely when I was horribly late the other day reducing my stress levels- the list is endless”

The nursery is always engaged in finding and offering the children a wide range of experiences and an understanding of the world we live in “I am constantly amazed at the leaps in my daughter’s learning. The Ghana water project is teaching the children the value of water whilst raising funds for a water tower”. “Children in Need Appeal to name but a few” “Book collection for Moldavia - my son gave away some of his books saying that there are children who don’t have any books and I want to help them”.

I have always been keen for children to learn a second language at an early age. I was one of the first nurseries to offer French over 18 years ago and when the tutor retired the manager; a native speaker of Spanish has now taken on the role of teaching the children Spanish. “My son is now learning to sing songs in Spanish and he’s only three” “I only wished I’d been taught Spanish when I was so young”.

The nursery’s strength also lies in its location. There is access to the nature park that lies in the grounds of the school, visits to the library and shopping at the local supermarket are but a few extras that are offered to the children “no emphasis on technology and computers that other nurseries always highlight – and I’m glad about this” “the longer we can engender a love of outdoor play, interpersonal communication (not via some medium) creating things and imagining
-I love this about the nursery”.

And finally this quote from a parent makes me very proud of The House of Rompa.
“Thank you for being so wonderful. I feel so lucky to have chosen The House of Rompa because much of the great things about you I have only discovered since we’ve been going”.
